Verification Criteria Framework

This section defines the structured verification criteria applied by Made by Africa when assessing documented claims of African origin.

Criteria are predefined, evidence based and uniformly applied across all submissions to ensure consistency neutrality and institutional reliability.

Methodological Foundation

The verification methodology is grounded in a predefined criteria architecture that structures how evidence is evaluated and classified.

This framework establishes the evidentiary standards, threshold definitions and evaluation logic used to assess documented claims of African origin.

Determinations are derived exclusively from documented inputs aligned with these predefined assessment parameters.

Origin & Production Location

The system evaluates documented proof of where core production stages occur.

This includes geographic location of extraction, transformation and assembly processes where relevant.

Determination is based on documentary evidence demonstrating that defined production thresholds are met within the African continent.

Value Chain Structure

Submissions must identify all relevant actors within the value chain and their functional roles.

Documentation must demonstrate traceable linkages between producers, processors, exporters or intermediaries where applicable.

The objective is to ensure structural transparency and prevent fragmented or unsupported origin claims.

Transformation & Processing Thresholds

Where claims involve processing or assembly, the system evaluates whether transformation thresholds meet predefined criteria.

Assessment considers value addition, material change and documented production stages.

Determination is grounded in documented production records rather than descriptive assertions.

Traceability & Record Integrity

All submissions must include verifiable records capable of supporting audit traceability.

Documentation is assessed for completeness, internal consistency and evidentiary reliability.

Each document is mapped to defined criterion categories within the verification matrix and preserved within structured records.

Standardized Evidence Mapping

All evidence is systematically mapped against predefined criteria categories within the verification matrix.

This structured mapping ensures replicability of determinations and preserves institutional audit integrity.
